03/01/2018, Pilot, Domestic Violence - Alleged Victim

In Wisconsin, a pilot started in 2015 in Winnebago County to provide representation to DV victims in family law cases.  The $75,000 project was funded by federal STOP grants administered through Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance.

In 2018, the study results were released.  The study found that the pilot's $75,000 investment resulted in additional revenue to the State of $163,787, netting $88,787 in savings to the State.  The study also found that participants in the study had greater feelings of safety for themselves and their family, greater financial independence (including a 31% increase in employment), and lesser use of governmenta assistance programs.
