MA providing expanded counsel for tenants

In October of 2020, the Governor of Massachusetts announced a new program to provide $100 million in rental assistance, $48.7 million for rapid rehousing of evicted tenants, and $8-9 million for tenant representation.  The representation program provided counsel to all tenants statewide until the funding was exhausted.

In 2024, the State approved another $2.5 million for tenant representation as a pilot program.  And in 2025 the Governor is proposing that the funding be renewed as a permanent line item.
