Over the past few years, both New York City and New York State have greatly increased funding for civil legal services for low-income New Yorkers. Retired Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman made access to justice a cornerstone of his time as Chief Judge, and the De Blasio Administration has provided unprecedented funding for legal services as part of its campaign to preserve affordable housing.
