ACLU/NCCRC report flags eviction’s harms, RTC’s promise
The ACLU and the NCCRC have released a joint research brief: No Eviction Without Representation: Evictions’ Disproportionate Harms and the Promise of Right to Counsel. The brief provides an overview of the devastating, long-lasting consequences of eviction and considers evidence on providing legal representation as a way to reduce evictions and help mitigate these harms. The brief ends with recommenations for federal, state, and local governments, which include establishing and fully funding a right to counsel for tenants.
The ACLU’s blog post has more on the report.
The NCCRC co-authored the report.
