Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA), and Rep. LaMonica McIver have introduced the Eviction Right to Counsel Act (Senate and House versions), which would provide $100 million/year for 5 years in federal funding for cities, counties, and states that enact tenant right to counsel policies.  The legislation prioritizes jurisdictions that have passed other tenant protections, such as just cause or extended eviction timelines.

The National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) supports the legislation. Read the press releases from Sen. Booker and Rep. Lee, as well as media coverage from Patch.
