HB1150

01/16/2024 , Indiana , Legislation , Abuse/Neglect/Dependency - Children

HB1150: Same as SB 230 and similar to HB 1056 but less extensive. Appointment of counsel for children in Child In Need of Services (CHINS) matters is currently discretionary. The bill would make appointment mandatory for children who are alleged victims of human or sexual trafficking. HB 1056 goes further than SB 230 and HB 1150 by making appointment mandatory for additional categories of children and by providing the right to counsel (RTC) to certain children in extended foster care matters and expanding the RTC for children in truancy cases.
