HB2512: The involuntary administration of medication on an emergency basis may be made for up to the 96-hour emergency detention period. And “[a]s soon as practicable after admission, the individual shall be advised of the right to counsel…” Administering medication involuntary (long-acting injectable antipsychotic medication) beyond 96 hours requires a treatment order under Sec. 632.705, which may also be used to compel someone to participate in community mental health services; therapy and case management; substance use disorder treatment; and supportive housing placement. In petitions sought pursuant to Sec. 632.705, the respondent also has the right to counsel.
