The “Access to Justice Act”, enacted in 2013, creates a set of statewide pilot projects for the provision of counsel in civil cases, and will last for 5 years. The pilots are funded by a new court fee, and are expected to have about $4 million for operation. The pilot planners anticipate focusing on providing counsel in housing cases.

NCCRC is working with the pilot designers on shaping the pilots, and contributed information on other pilot projects across the country.
