Memphis tenant rep pilot keeps more than 1/3 of tenants in homes

A Memphis-based tenant representation pilot program found that of the 337 represented tenants, 127 had their cases dismissed or non-suited, and reduced the issuance of eviction writs by 79%. Of note is that “42% of tenants prefer receiving a lawyer to receiving $1,000 in cash.”
The NCCRC has supported the operators of the Memphis pilot.
