In her 2012 report, the UN Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty stated that “[l]ack of legal aid for civil matters can seriously prejudice the rights and interests of persons . . . for example when they are unable to contest tenancy disputes, eviction decisions, immigration or asylum proceedings, eligibility for social security benefits, abusive working conditions, discrimination in the workplace or child custody decisions.”  Responding to this recognition, the NCCRC collaborated with the Program on Human Rights and the Global Economy ant Northeastern University School of Law to give input to the Rapporteur, who is visiting the United States this year.

NCCRC collaborated with NUSL on the input.
