Louisiana , Legislation , Truancy - Petition Against Child

Pursuant to La. Child Code art. 730(1), truancy is treated as a family in need of supervision matter.  And La. Child Code art. 740(B) provides that children have a right regardless of indigence to the appointment of independent counsel whenever a formal petition for adjudication is filed.
