Maryland , Legislation , Truancy - Petition Against Child

In Maryland, truancy is treated as a “child in need of supervision” matter, as per Md. Code Cts & Jud. Proc. § 3-8A-01(e)(1).  And Md. Code Ann. Cts. & Jud. Proc. § 3-8A-20 provides a right to appointed counsel regardless of indigence for the child in such proceedings.
