SB5740: Amends language on the Eviction Summons to specify that a tenant must make a response in writing by the deadline and that the failure to do so will result in the loss of the right to defend or be represented by a lawyer. Amends section 59.18.640 to: (i) prohibit the appointment of counsel if the tenant fails to provides certain public assistance or income documentation to the OCLA before the tenant’s response deadline; and (ii) prohibit recovery of legal fees for legal services provided under the section. [Similar to HB 1915. Same as cross-filed HB 1089.]
