NY Chief Judge calls for counsel in all foreclosure cases

Judge Lippman created the Task Force on Access to Civil Legal Services, following up on speeches he gave over the course of the year calling for a guarantee of legal representation where basic legal needs are at stake. He also declared a plan to provide counsel in all foreclosure proceedings. In February 2012, the Chief announced the start of a program to provide representation for all foreclosed homeowners entering settlement proceedings.
