The Vera Institute has released a report evaluating the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project and finding that the rate of success for immigrants jumped from 4% when pro se to 48% when represented by counsel, which is a 1,100% increase.  The report’s release was covered by Vox.

The report comes on the heels of the launch of Vera’s SAFE Cities Network, which aims to provide universal immigrant representation in 11 cities and counties across the country via a combination of public and private investment. The launch of the SAFE Cities Network has been covered extensively, including by NPR, Sacramento Bee, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Baltimore Sun, Texas Monthly, Nonprofit Quarterly, ColorLines, and Above The Law.
