Civil Gideon and the Justice Gap CLE
From the Hamline University website:
The Supreme Court established the right to counsel in criminal cases in Gideon v Wainwright. However, need for representation is not limited to criminal matters and the need for counsel outweighs those who can provide it, creating the justice gap, with very real consequences in the lives of many people. This event will feature a presentation about the concept of and need for Civil Gideon, the right to counsel in civil matters where the consequences of a lack of representation may be disastrous. Following the presentation, there will be a panel to discuss the various ways that students and attorneys can help to fill the justice gap in the absence of such a right to counsel.
One standard credit has been sought for this session, which can be attended in person in the Hamline Law Moot Court Room or by live webcast. Register here for this free CLE.
