SB43: Currently, per Section 211.211, all children in abuse and termination of parental rights (state) matters are entitled to an attorney who is a guardian ad litem. The bill would amend appointment in abuse matters to require client-directed counsel at all stages for children between 14 and 17 years of age (including on appeal) — would implement this change “no later than August 28, 2027.” Also makes conforming changes to Section 211.211.
