Equal Justice Conference
At this year’s Equal Justice Conference in Chicago, the NCCRC will host a panel on May 13 at 3:30 PM entitled, A New Legal Aid Funding Source? Social Impact Bonds To Finance Systemic Representation. It will feature speakers from Third Sector Capital and Abt Associates, who will speak about how social impact bonds utilize a “pay for success” model where private and public funding for services is provided based on demonstrating cost savings. Such a model could be useful in phasing in a right to counsel.
NCCRC Coordinator John Pollock will also appear on a panel on May 12 at 3:30 PM entitled Civil Gideon in D.C. and San Francisco: Challenges, Solutions, and Looking Ahead, which will explore research projects and how they fit in to the national movement.
