Bills that would’ve reinstated notice requirement die

01/15/2025, Illinois, Legislation, Bypass of Parental Input into Abortion - Minor (Pre-Dobbs)

The Illinois House of Representatives introduced four bills this session that all sought to reinstate the requirement that minors or “incompetent persons” seeking an abortion obtain provide notice to their parents about their intent to receive that medical care: HB 1139, HB 3243, HB 2624, and HB 1336.  The bills would also have reinstated the process through which the individual could obtain judicial waiver of the notice requirement, for which the person would have had a right to counsel upon request.

All four bills died in Committee.
