HB1204: Titled the “Colorado Indian Child Welfare Act”, the bill would would require appointment of counsel for Indian children subject to child custody proceedings as well as for the Indian child’s parent or Indian custodian where they are a respondent in a dependency and neglect action, regardless of indigency. It would also require counsel for the parent or custodian if they are indigent in “any removal placement, or termination of parental rights proceeding, outside of a dependency and neglect proceeding.”
