HB2999: Similar to SB 736. At the time of any abuse investigation interview or search of a property, the Department of Human Services (“DHS”) must advise the ‘subject person’ of their rights, including the fact that any statement or admission made by them may be used against them, as well as the fact that the individual has the right to seek representation of an attorney, to have the attorney present during any interview or search, and to have a court-appointed attorney if they cannot afford an attorney and where the dep’t seeks removal of the child or services participation.
