Illinois , Legislation , Truancy - Petition Against Child

In Illinois, truancy is treated as a status offense (truant minor in need of supervision) pursuant to 705 Ill. Comp. Stat. 405/3-33.5.  And 705 Ill. Comp. Stat. 405/1-5(a) provides an indigent child with the right to appointed counsel in such cases.
