In Nebraska, truancy is treated as a status offense, pursuant to Neb. Stat. §§ 43-245(25) and 43-247(3).  And under Neb. Rev. Stat. § 43-272(1), indigent children have a right to appointed counsel regardless of indigence in such proceedings.
