SB134: Adopting Uniform Guardianship, Conservatorship, and Other Protective Arrangements (“UGCOPA”) Act provisions. Requiring, for example, the appointment of counsel for minors subject to guardianship proceedings where: (i) the minor is 12 years of age or older and requests counsel; (ii) the guardian ad litem recommends counsel; or (iii) the court determines that the minor needs representation. Requiring appointment of counsel for adults in guardianship matters if the adult respondent requests appointment, the visitor recommends appointment, or the court determines that the respondent needs representation. Requires appointed counsel for unrepresented adults seeking to remove their guardianship under the same conditions.
