SB138: Tracking for internal reasons — amends Cal. Welf. & Inst. Code §6500, which at (b)(5) provides the RTC to individuals who are alleged developmentally disabled in civil commitment matters, to add a new para. at (c)(4) to state that commitment orders entered on or after 7/1/24 shall expire after 6 months unless the facility informs the court in writing of the need for an extension — the individual or their counsel may file for habeas relief under Sec. 4801, which provides a RTC.
