Cross-filed forfeiture right to counsel bills die in Committee

In 2026, the Minnesota legislature introduced two cross-filed bills, SF 3524 and HF 3329, that would have provided the right to representation by the public defender in controlled substance-related forfeitures where the defendant was represented by appointed counsel in related criminal matter.

Unfortunately, both bills died in Committee.
