U.S. Rep DeLauro introduces housing representation bill
In December 2019, U.S. House Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) introduced the Eviction Prevention Act, which would provide $125 million in funding to states and cities in order to provide eviction representation, and would prioritize jurisdictions that establish or pursue a right to counsel for tenants facing eviction. The bill would also provide grants to cities/states to improve data collection efforts related to eviction court records. Check out the press release.
The bill’s release has been covered by WNPR, WSHU, the New Haven Independent, and New Haven Register.
The NCCRC worked with DeLauro's office on the text of the bill.
