White House version of Tenant Bill of Rights includes right to counsel
The White House’s recently-released Blueprint for a Renters Bill of Rights urges states to, among other things, provide “30 days’ notice of an eviction action and the right to counsel during an eviction proceeding…” This document was the product of strong advocacy by tenant organizers and housing groups across the country, such as the Homes Guarantee Campaign, which had released a proposed Executive Order that included the right to counsel.
