01/24/2024, Legislation, Abuse/Neglect/Dependency - Children

In 2024, the Hawaii legislature introduced two bills, SB 2323 and HB 2722, that would reform the law around fees and costs related to the representation of minors.

The bills would prohibit the court from requiring the minor or their parent or guardian to pay for the costs or attorney's fees stemming from the minor's representation by a guardian ad litem or appointed attorney in abuse or truancy matters.
